Every year it feels like there's more music that is held in high regard that I have never even heard of, and I'm sure you all feel the same. It's because of this that I, personally, look forward to the end of the year lists that cover the internet around December / January time.
In fact, I'd even go so far as to say I've found more than one of my favourite records of all time purely from seeing them on somebodies end of year list. So, I'd like to share some end of year lists with you over the last two weeks of the year, and probably going into early 2017. With this, hopefully, you'll find something new that you might not have heard before.
Previously, we heard from members of Losing Sleep, Rain, and Leatherneck. Today we have another member of Leatherneck, guitarist Jake Hardie, with his top 5 records of the year.
Simmer - 'Paper Prisms'
"These guys are our very close friends and such a sick band, this album was a big step up. Even having witnessed a couple of the recording sessions, when I heard the final versions I was blown away. It’s a belter."
Self Defense Family – ‘Colicky’
"Definitely one my favourite bands ever, they have everything you want and the best riffs. ‘Colicky’ is class, but of course it was going to be, everything they put out is gold."
Parquet Courts – ‘Human Performance’
"Big fan of this band and they did not disappoint with this one. It gets a bit strange in some places but has the best hooks to pull you through."
Eagulls – 'Ullages'
"Eagulls are top and this album is top. There are anthems everywhere. Listen to it, you won't be let down."
Creative Adult – ‘Fear Of Life’
"Really enjoyed this its pretty different too ‘Psychic Mess’ a little more chilled out, the guitar work is phenomenal, the sound of the album is massive. Was lucky enough to play with them a few months ago, they were sooo good."
Doctrines – ‘Doctrines’, Patty Hearst – ‘Patty Hearst’, The New Tusk – ‘Sloom’, Trash Talk – ‘Tangle’, Restrict – ‘Restrict’, Pet Grief – ‘Pet Grief’, Pup – ‘The Dream Is Over’
