Every year it feels like there's more music that is held in high regard that I have never even heard of, and I'm sure you all feel the same. It's because of this I, personally, look forward to the end of the year lists that cover the internet around December time.
In fact, I'd even go so far as to say I've found more than one of my favourite records of all time purely from seeing them on somebodies end of year list. So, I'd like to share some end of year lists with you over the last two weeks of the year, and probably going into New Year's Day. With this, hopefully, you'll find something new that you might not have heard before.
Previously, we gave you Leatherneck Guitarist Alex Sylt and Rain Vocalist & Bassist Harry Steel's top 5 of the year, and now we have Sean Shee of Losing Sleep picking his top 5 records of the year.
Sky:Lark - 'LP2'
"It feels like I'd been waiting years for this Sky Lark record. They're always incredible live but so many of the songs I'd grown to love from the live sets weren't released until this came out. Everything about this record is how it should be. It can be heavy, fast & melodic whenever it needs to be. Pedigree chums, & with added saxophone on a few songs to add to the perfection. Shot Maker meets Sabbath riffery!"
Natchtexen - '7"'
"The truest punkers sounding so fun & angry at the same time. Unbelievable band! Synth punk heaven."
Skepta - 'Konnichiwa'
"I never thought I liked grime until I heard this record. That probably says more about me than it does this record, but it's great."
T-Shirt Weather - 'Pig Beach'
"Utterly ridiculous in every way bar the fact that the songs are brilliantly crafted, great songs. It's easy not to notice that on the first 10 or so listens you start seeing (hearing) past the absurd/brilliant Horn lines, steal guitars & strings but once it settles it gets even better for it."
Snob - 'Snob 7" 2'
"Best straight up punk band. Dirty stuff."
