As a follow-up to the previously released EP 'Stranger Culture', Modern Rituals have put a new single up for download at their BandCamp page.
If you're not familiar with the band, they're a three-piece post-punk band based in London. In Close to Home lore, you might recognize their name from supporting Nothing alongside Rain earlier this year in Hoxton.
Although the EP was only released only a matter of months ago, the band have been playing this new track in their live set all Summer, so I guess it's only fitting that this release of 'Muttering' was recorded and mixed live at JT Soar by Phil Booth (before being mastered by Joe Gilder).
'Muttering' consists mainly of melancholic vocals over a harsh, winding guitar riff that wouldn't sound out of place on Joyce Manor's self-titled record. At about the half-way mark, though, it starts to take you beyond the standard punk track you think you might be getting at first.
